OFFICE OF FACULTY OF COMPUTER AND MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES

Assistant Information Technology Officer (Ref. 241112024-IE)
This new Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (FCMS), to be established on 1 January 2025, will initially comprise three constituent academic units: Department of Applied Mathematics, Department of Computing, and Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. As PolyU’s answer to the challenges posed by the AI age, FCMS is expected to experience continuous growth over the coming decade, including the opportunity to establish additional academic units. FCMS is also expected to position PolyU as a world leader in the fields of applied mathematics, computing, data science, artificial intelligence and beyond, in teaching, research, and knowledge transfer, for the benefit of Hong Kong, the Nation and the world.
Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) provide day-to-day technical support to the Faculty Office and its resource centre;
(b) develop and maintain the AV systems and IT facilities, including software and hardware, servers, networks, and AV items of the Office and its resource centre;
(c) act as the Departmental Computer Liaison Officer, if appropriate;
(d) develop and maintain various online and web-based applications including the Faculty’s website;
(e) maintain an accurate inventory control of IT/AV for the Faculty Office;
(f) provide technical support to the Faculty’s events and promotional activities;
(g) assist in complying with the IT policy and rolling out new applications from the Information Technology Services Office; and
(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of Faculty or his/her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related disciplines;
(b) have at least three years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably gained in tertiary institutions;
(c) have high level of proficiency in various operating systems, such as Linux, Windows, Windows Server, Mac OS, etc., and a good command of common desktop applications;
(d) be proficient in using CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, jQuery and HTML;
(e) have sound experience in Microsoft Office 360 and MS Office Application automation tools such as macros and VBA;
(f) have solid experience in various multi-media applications such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, etc.;
(g) be proactive, self-motivated and hardworking in undertaking the day-to-day assigned duties;
(h) have a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, with proficiency in Putonghua being an advantage; and
(i) have good communication and interpersonal skills.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
