M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Located in Hong Kong’s WestK, we are one of the leading museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world. The museum reflects our unique time and place, building on Hong Kong’s historic balance of the local and the international to define a distinctive and innovative voice for Asia’s twenty-first century.

Reporting to the Manager, Publishing, the Assistant Manager, Publishing, is responsible for successfully, creatively, and efficiently coordinating publications projects, from inception through production to distribution. They help to ensure quality, on-brand publications are delivered on time and within budget.

You will be responsible for:

  • working closely with the Manager, Publishing, to coordinate museum publications inspired by M+ Collections and exhibitions;
  • helping to prepare and proofread agreements, reports, sales copy etc, and other editorial materials as required;
  • managing the publication lifecycle from concept to production and distribution, ensuring the final publications are on brand, on time, and within budget;
  • monitoring publication costs to ensure budget management;
  • coordinating with the different teams and departments of M+, shared West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) services, publishers, and other external parties;
  • supporting the administration work of the publication cycle; and
  • when needed, handling administration tasks, including soliciting and processing invoices, tracking and organizing payments, and preparing presentations.

You should:

  • possess a recognised university degree or above in any discipline;
  • have at least 5-7 years of experience in project management, editing, or administrative support;
  • have a strong interest in publishing, with preference given to applicants with experience in the industry;
  • have a track record of successful results-oriented project management, demonstrating organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
  • possess excellent interpersonal communication, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work on several projects simultaneously with strict deadlines;
  • have hands-on experience in MS Office software, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as PowerPoint; experience in InDesign and/or Asana are an advantage; and
  • possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Chinese written and verbal communication skills are an advantage.
