Editor, Weekend Edition APAC - Hong Kong

We’ll trust you to:

• Work with beat reporting teams in the region, as well as freelancers, to solicit ideas and commission stories for the weekend edition
• Edit copy filed into the weekend team, and sometimes write pitch and write stories yourself
• Collaborate with design, audience and production to build out high-touch visual and interactive stories
• Select content from the region to promote in the weekend package
• Coordinate with the weekend breaking news team in the region, and collaborate with Weekend Edition editors in Sydney, Hong Kong, London, New York and Washington DC
• Use analytics to understand how our readers are consuming weekend content and adjust editorial decision-making based on user data and subscriber feedback

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or degree-equivalent qualifications
• At least 5 years of experience in a digital news environment
• Experience commissioning and editing long-form and enterprise journalism
• Experience in using web publishing tools or CMS
• A substantial grounding in financial journalism, as well as interest and experience writing and editing in other subject areas — for example, culture, politics, travel, sports
• A strong understanding of how digital audiences are evolving, analytics and the digital subscription ecosystem
• The ability to network and build relationships across our large global newsroom, and among freelancers throughout the region
