Who are we?
In 2015, ALBA IWS was appointed by the HKSAR Government to operate an integrated waste management facility for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in Hong Kong. Our services begin with free door-to-door collection and end with the removal of hazardous wastes and turning them into valuable secondary raw materials. We also refurbish WEEE and donate them to those in need.
Your Role
The EHS Manager is accountable for AIWS’ environmental compliance, both legal and contractual, in its operations.
Environmental compliance and performance improvements (70%)
- Applying for, maintaining, and updating all environmental licenses and permits for the operation of the company.
- Preparing, updating, and implementing an Environmental Monitoring Plan to ensure compliance with statutory, contractual, and IFC's environmental monitoring requirements.
- Identifying and engaging suitable environmental laboratories to perform the monitoring.
- Carrying out investigations and initiating corrective actions when there is any abnormality or exceedance.
- Preparing and updating the Environmental Management Plan and associated documentation to achieve the EPD contractual requirements and independent ISO 14001 environmental management system certification.
- Establishing, maintaining, and updating the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory and achieving independent verification of the GHG Inventory.
Safety management strategies and campaigns (30%)
- Performing regular safety and environmental inspections, tracking corrective and preventive measures, and collecting data on environmental and safety performance.
- Establish and implement strategies, as well as relevant and impactful action plans, to enhance safety compliance and performances in our operations across all functions
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree or above in Environmental Engineering, or other relevant specialties
- Membership in one or more of the following
- The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers in a relevant discipline
- The Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management (or being classified as a Chartered Environmentalist)
- The Royal Society of Chemistry
- Experience working for government contracts in the scope of an Environmental Manager will be a significant advantage
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with experience in handling governmental clients, external consultants, in-house co-workers/employees, and contractors
- A good team player with a proactive and positive working attitude; ability to drive continuous improvements in environmental performance.
- Proficient understanding of Hong Kong's environmental ordinances and regulations.
- Excellent writing skills in English and Chinese.
The successful candidate with less qualification and/or experiences than required will be appointed as Assistant EHS Manager.
