Part-time Research Assistant in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (Appointment for 4 months) [Ref. T/017/24]
The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences is spearheading an innovative project to develop advanced models for training veterinary students. These models are designed to enhance hands-on learning experiences, focusing on the intricate anatomy and procedures essential for veterinary practice. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant who is passionate about contributing to the future of veterinary education through cutting-edge design and technology.
Project
Bone and Microbiota Health after Long-term Administration of Omeprazole in Thoroughbred Racing Horses
Duties
The appointee will:
- Assist in the design and development of physical and digital models for veterinary training, focusing on accuracy and educational effectiveness;
- Collaborate with the design team to refine models based on feedback from veterinary educators and students;
- Collect and organise data from user testing, including feedback from students and instructors on the usability and effectiveness of the training models;
- Assist in the preparation of detailed documentation of the development process, including technical specifications, testing results, and suggestions of improvements;
- Regularly communicate with the project lead to ensure alignment on objectives and progress; and
- Perform any other related duties as needed to support the project.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design/Product Design/Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Experience with 3D modelling software and familiarity with 3D printing technologies will be highly advantageous. Candidates should possess strong organisational skills and be keen for attention to detail. Excellent communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
