Payroll Accountant typically manages the processing and administration of employee compensation, ensuring compliance with both local laws and company policies. The job responsibilities for a payroll accountant in Hong Kong may include the following:
1. Payroll Processing
- Salary Calculation: Ensure accurate calculation of monthly salaries based on employee contracts, overtime, commissions, bonuses, and deductions.
- Tax Calculation and Deductions: Calculate salaries after tax deductions (such as salaries tax, MPF contributions, etc.), ensuring compliance with Hong Kong's tax regulations.
- Overtime and Allowances: Process and verify overtime pay, shift allowances, and other bonuses or allowances per company policies.
2. Tax and MPF Compliance
- Salaries Tax Filing: Calculate employees' tax liabilities, prepare tax returns, and ensure accurate and timely tax filing with the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department (IRD).
- Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Contributions: Ensure correct MPF deductions, contribution schedules, and compliance with the MPF scheme for both employees and employers.
3. Employee Records Management
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records, including attendance, leaves, salary changes, and terminations.
- Onboarding and Offboarding: Ensure that new employees are properly enrolled in the payroll system and that departing employees’ final payments are calculated correctly.
