Assistant Product Developer

In a nutshell

Assist the product development team in our General Merchandise categories across the Asia offices and supply base, to support in developing products that provide outstanding quality, excellent value, and style that meet our customers’ expectations. Work closely with Asia Sourcing and Technical teams to support in developing product inline with the design briefs to achieve right first time sample development.

What I need to do

• Help Product Developer to manage trackers, ensuring design briefs and samples arrive in line with the critical path. Provide general administrative support to the PD team.
• Support the design briefing and sample screening processes across all Asia merchandising and technical teams, to ensure we are consistently delivering great quality product that is right first time
• Support the Product Developers in educating suppliers, and ensuring suppliers understand our design brief and are able to execute the sample efficiently.
• Establish strong communication with UK Teams, Asia colleagues and suppliers
• Strong interest in product and understanding of homeware trends. Support in making sure relevant trend and competitor activity is available and accessible to our Asia & UK colleagues
• Work closely with key suppliers to gather newness, and support the Product Developer to collect and filter supplier proposals, and share these back to the UK Teams for review.
• General support on office projects for events and internal use
• Attend local Trade Fairs for Inspiration, new supplier and product opportunities
• As needed accompany/support the Product Developer on development trips and assist in the follow up with the supplier

What I need to know

• Passionate about product and attention to detail
• Articulate in communicating ideas and creative thinking
• Basic knowledge of MS Office
• Open mind, positive outlook and willingness to develop strong relationships both within the HK office and regionally.
• Independent & able to work autonomously
• Willing & wants to be out in the field & travel
• Strong team working ethic
• Good written and spoken English & Mandarin
• Design, product development or Sourcing experience preferred
• University degree or above preferred
