Job Summary:
This is a local employment opportunity in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam with immigration support and relocation assistance provided. For expatriates, the contract length is typically 2 years, based on the validity period of the issued working visa.
As Principal Battery Quality Engineer specializing in battery-powered tools, you will be playing a crucial role in defining and developing manufacturing and quality strategies for manufacturing and assembly systems. Focus will be on critical processes such as laser welding and resistance welding including qualifying and approving set-up parameters, fixtures and control/monitoring parameters. Key process development outputs include control plans, SPC control limits & requirements, establishing quality targets, and developing risk mitigation plans for advanced, new technology systems. You will collaborate closely with Advanced Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering, and larger cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless implementation of quality standards and processes in the production of consumer battery-powered tools.
Reporting Structure:
- Direct: Battery Quality Manager
Responsibilities:
- Develop system level control plans and risk mitigation plans for Advanced Manufacturing Systems such as, but not limited to, Laser Welding and Assembly
- Support development and execution of Advanced Manufacturing Systems DOE’s and PFMEA’s to establish full-system SPC strategies.
- Coordinate alignment of critical control plan elements and processes globally, including SPC and in-process control requirements to enable data connectivity strategy.
- Support defect root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Responsible for system-level Quality sign-off before release for production.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations to product teams to minimize potential quality issues during production start-up.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization to enhance efficiency and reduce defects in advanced systems.
- Provide training to project quality engineering teams for system implementation.
- Provide project and production support for newly launched systems.
- Provide critical reviews of existing process control plans and process monitoring to drive continuous improvement on high value process steps.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Required:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Quality, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Equivalent.
- 6+ years of highly successful experience in related field.
- Willing to locate to Vietnam to work and travel internationally.
- Highly motivated self-starter.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication skills in written and spoken English with CET 4.0 and above. CET 6.0 preferred.
- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
- Ability to be direct “hands-on” with equipment and engineering projects.
- Quality statistical analysis skills (SPC, CPK, ANOVA Analysis, etc)
- Project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience with various weld methods and technologies.
- Experience in automation systems, mechanical & electronic machine development and life cycle.
Preferred:
- Master of Science Degree in Engineering or MBA.
- Quality Engineering experience with battery and motor manufacturing processes focus
- Experience with ISO-9001, TS16949, or VDA 6.3 process auditing
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification
Remarks:
This is a local employment opportunity in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The successful candidate will be directly employed by our Vietnam entity under a Vietnam local labor contract.
