Job Description

We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Arts and Social Sciences:

Course Developer (Intermediate Interpreting and Advanced Interpreting)

We are now looking for a suitable candidate for the post of Course Developer for TRAN3354ACD Intermediate Interpreting (Autumn 2025) and TRAN3355ACD Advanced Interpretation (Spring 2026), two three-credit-unit courses introducing and training students in knowledge of interpreting and performing interpreting task.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

  • Writing course units which align with the intended learning outcomes;
  • Developing tutorial tasks and self-tests which support students’ learning; and
  • Designing assessments which enable students to apply the skills and concepts covered in the course.

Candidates

Candidates are expected to possess the following:

  • A higher degree in Translation and Interpreting, with a focus on Interpreting Studies.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin;
  • Experience in teaching and training interpreters is highly preferred.
  • Be well organised, highly attentive to detail, and able to work under pressure; and
  • EAP teaching experience in Interpreting courses and experience in course design are preferred.

Successful candidates will be appointed on a freelance basis.
