Job Description

Job Highlights

  • Planning and implementing activities related to library digital initiatives;
  • Formulating policies and procedures related to library digital initiatives

We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the Library:
Assistant Librarian I / II (Digital Initiatives) (LIB) (Ref: 25000HK)

Major Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

  • Overseeing daily operations of Library digitization projects and digital repository services;
  • Supervising support staff of the Digital Initiatives Section;
  • Planning, coordinating, and implementing activities related to library digital initiatives;
  • Formulating policies and procedures related to library digital initiatives;
  • Liaising with Schools and Offices of the University on library digital initiatives;
  • Planning, coordinating, and managing technical support, training and promotion of the makerspace facilities;
  • Serving in Library Subject Teams for academic liaison and collection development;
  • Serving on committees and task forces as appropriate; and
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the University Librarian or his/her nominee.

Candidates
Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

  • A recognized degree;
  • At least 6 years’ relevant post-qualification experience (for Assistant Librarian I);
  • At least 2 years’ relevant post-qualification experience (for Assistant Librarian II);
  • Strong knowledge and experience in managing library digital initiatives and projects;
  • Knowledge and experience in managing and supporting makerspace facilities;
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, analytical, proactive and customer-oriented;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills in both English and Chinese.

Candidates without a professional library qualification (e.g., AALIA, ALA, MCLIP, MLIS or equivalent) may be appointed as Manager / Assistant Manager.

Candidates may be invited to attend a written test.
