Job Description
M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Located in Hong Kong’s WestK, we are one of the leading museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world. The museum reflects our unique time and place, building on Hong Kong’s historic balance of the local and the international to define a distinctive and innovative voice for Asia’s twenty-first century.
You will be responsible for:
- assisting in development, delivery and coordination of accessible and inclusive learning programmes for communities from diverse backgrounds and needs with a focus on visual culture;
- assisting in conducting research in fields such as learning and teaching pedagogy, visual culture learning, educators’ development, in-gallery learning experience, and outreach strategies with an aim to offer a range of learning activities and resources that allow for an expanded participation for communities;
- engaging with communities and audiences with specific needs and working closely with non-governmental organisations, cultural organisations, individual collaborators as well as internal departments;
- proofreading, editing and improving textual content for access features such as audio description scripts, accessible captions and accessible text documents ; and
- providing administrative and logistic support to events and activities of Learning and Interpretation team.
You should:
- possess a recognised university degree, preferably in Art Education, Museum Studies, Cultural Studies, Fine Arts, Design, Architecture, Moving Images, Creative Media, Cultural Management, Humanity, Disability Studies or equivalent;
- have at least 2 years of work experience in assisting implementation of learning and interpretation programmes, preferably in an arts and cultural organisation; candidates with less than 2 years of work experience but with relevant and strong background might also be considered;
- Experience in working with people with specific needs, older adults, or underrepresented communities is an advantage;
- with a proactive approach to the principles of equality, accessibility and diversity;
- be highly-organised, detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to work independently and cooperatively with others in a fast-paced environment;
- have strong project coordination skills, research skills, problem-solving skills as well as administrative skills; and
- have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese. Knowledge of Hong Kong Sign Language is an advantage.
