Job Description

Summary:

As a Data Architect in the school's sector, you will be pivotal in designing, developing, implementing and otherwise leading data solutions that support the organization's administrative, operational and educational goals. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organization as a lead consultant to understand and translate their data needs into effective technical systems and protocols while supervising and mentoring the IT data team members.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Data Strategy:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the organization's mission and vision while taking full advantage of generative artificial intelligence and other value-adding technologies.
    • Lead in defining data governance policies and standards to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
    • Provide technical consultancy and feasibility studies on business requirements.
    • Oversee data lifecycle management, including data acquisition, storage, processing, analysis, and protection.
  • Data Architecture/Management:
    • Design, develop and manage data architectures, including data models, data warehouses, and data marts.
    • Select appropriate data technologies and tools based on performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
    • Ensure data integration and interoperability across various systems and applications.
    • Supervise, mentor and otherwise support the IT data analyst team.
    • Provide training to end-users on all processes and tools being used, while attending to and advocating for user needs in a client-centric way.
    • Lead IT data systems support to all stakeholders utilizing the school’s different platforms and applications.
  • Data Analytics & Governance:
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to enable data-enhanced decision-making.
    • Support the development of data analytics and reporting capabilities, particularly on the administrative and operational sides of the school.
    • Identify opportunities for data-driven insights to improve educational outcomes and communication of those insights to the Director of Whole-School Data Analytics.
    • Implement data governance frameworks and policies to protect data privacy and security.
    • Conduct regular data audits and assessments to identify and address data quality issues.

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, data science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data architecture, modelling, and warehousing.
  • Proven record in project management and implementation
  • Strong understanding of data management concepts, including data quality, metadata management, and data security.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more of the following technologies: MySQL, SQL, Oracle, Salesforce, Tableau
  • Experience working with education data products (PowerSchool, SalesForce, FinaleSite, SchoolsBuddy, etc.) will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills, with an affinity for working in intercultural environments.
  • Strong communication skills in English (Mandarin would be an advantage)
