INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES OFFICE
Deputy Director of Information Technology(Ref. 241202014-IE)
The University is now seeking a dynamic and experienced IT professional to join our team and play a pivotal role in advancing our IT infrastructure to support research and educational initiatives. This position calls for an ideal candidate with a strong technical background in applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning to drive digital transformation, efficiency and innovations.
Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) serve as a strategic partner to the Director of the Office to provide leadership and strategic direction on the exploitation of digital information and emerging technologies, such as AI, Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT) and data analytics, and drive innovation and digital transformation in alignment with the University’s Strategic Plan;
(b) support the Director of the Office in the formulation and implementation of cutting-edge and innovative IT strategies, policies and services in achieving the key goals and objectives of the University;
(c) collaborate with various stakeholders of the University to align IT resources and project initiatives with the University’s educational and research priorities;
(d) lead and manage a team of IT professionals in fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement to enhance user experience and operational efficiency;
(e) oversee the implementation and integration of Cloud software as a service platform and AI technologies to enhance learning and teaching and facilitate adoption of innovative and interactivepedagogies;
(f) ensure the security and integrity of the University’s information asset as well as statutory compliance of personal data protection across university application systems;
(g) enhance the ability of the learning and teaching community to understand and leverage learning data through exploration and visualisation;
(h) develop and manage the IT infrastructure and hybrid Cloud software environment to provide a stable and secure endpoint environment for staff and students; and
(i) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office or the Central Management of the University from time to time.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field;
(b) proven leadership experience in a senior IT management role within sizable corporations or tertiary institutions, with at least ten years of relevant work experience at management level or key positions;
(c) extensive hands-on experience in applying AI and Machine Learning to drive efficiency and solve business problems in a commercial or higher education sector;
(d) demonstrated ability to manage and mentor a diverse team of IT professionals;
(e) strong project management skills with a track record of successful delivery of IT projects;
(f) excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels; and
(g) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, preferably with fluency in Putonghua.

Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
