IT Technician for Data & Security Team in the Information Technology Services (ITS) (Ref.: 530174)  

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides central IT services to support the University’s teaching, learning, research and administrative activities. ITS is transforming its organization to support its new strategic development and strategic adoption of new technologies. We are seeking high caliber candidates to support different IT services and new development. Information about ITS can be obtained at https://www.its.hku.hk/. 

The Role

• Organizing and promoting events to raise awareness of cybersecurity among University members and ensure compliance with the University's Information Security and Data Management policy
• Providing emergency support for security operations and collaborate with stakeholders on security device operations
• Keeping up with the emerging technologies and industry best practices to protect campus network against cyberattacks
• Recommending and enforcing security policies, procedures and standards to ensure information security, data privacy and its integrity
• Developing and supporting information security systems in detecting, alerting and mitigating cyberattacks
• Providing second-level support regarding data and security services
• Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Qualities

Applicants should

• possess a Higher Diploma in related discipline and at least 2 years relevant post-qualification experience;
• possess knowledge of IT services and applications;
• have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
• have strong analytical thinking, problem-solving; communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; and
• have at least one of the following experience / knowledges:

1. Sound knowledge of network infrastructure, information security, and data management.
2. Operating, monitoring and managing security devices
3. Handling cases of computer abuse and answer the related enquiries
4. Security incident response
5. Strong background in planning, coordinating, and promoting events within an organization
6. Skills in engaging with internal stakeholders

Applicant with relevant experiences or qualifications would be advantageous:

• ITIL or PRINCE2
• CCNA or CCNP
• CISA, CISM or CISSP
• NG firewalls
• SIEM
• Microsoft Power Platform (including Power App, Power BI, Power Automate)
• System programming on security devices, e.g., Shell Script, Python, YARA-L, Java, etc.

High-caliber fresh graduates with a Bachelor’s degree are also welcome to apply for this position.

 What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years and commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.  A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.  Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
