Location: Hong Kong

Hours: Full-time

Contract: Permanent

 

SO, WHAT'S THE STORY?

We are looking for a junior legal counsel to join our iconic brand to support our Asia Pacific business and Global Supply Chain function.  Reporting to the Head of Legal, Asia Pacific and Global Supply Chain, you will collaborate with team members of different levels, functions (i.e. Global Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, IT, HR, Finance and more), regions and markets to drive better decisions, anticipate risk, join the dots and provide excellent, independent advice and process to protect the Dr. Martens brand and deliver the DOCS strategy.  You will be part of a committed, passionate, supportive, and collaborative legal team and work on a broad variety of matters.    

 

 

THE GIG

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of legal documents and contracts (such as leases, service agreements, logistics agreements, distribution agreements, marketing and event agreements, tech and e-com T&Cs, NDAs, material transfer agreements, supplier and manufacturing agreements, cooperation agreements) to support various business activities, ensuring they protect the business, maximise value and manage legal risk.
  • Operating as a legal business partner in providing critical and timely legal support and advice to the Asia Pacific business and Global Supply Chain function.
  • Working with stakeholders across the business at all levels from entry-level roles up to global management and also with the regional legal teams in EMEA, Americas and APAC to advise on contractual issues, legal and risk management, regulatory requirements, product and packaging compliance, product safety, corporate compliance and governance, data privacy, information security, employment laws, anti-competition issues, consumer rights, and environmental regulations, among other matters.
  • Conducting research and fact-finding, and providing analysis, advice, guidance and solutions on contractual, legal and risk related matters. 
  • Supporting the development and implementation of systems and processes to ensure efficient and consistent conduct of company business and identifying risks and liabilities mitigations.
  • Monitoring legal developments impacting the Asia Pacific business and the Global Supply Chain function, sharing with responsible individuals within the business and developing plans to adapt or introduce processes to deal with the changes.

  • Qualified to practice law in Hong Kong or other common law jurisdiction.  Newly qualified solicitors welcome.
  • Positive attitude and passion to learn from and collaborate with others.
  • High standards and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills. 
  • Good spoken and written communication skills in Chinese.
