The HKUST Library seeks an energetic and knowledgeable professional for the position of Librarian (Systems & Digital Services). Reporting directly to the Head of Systems and Digital Services, the successful applicant will play a crucial role in the administration and development of our library systems.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the Integrated Library System and the PowerSearch discovery system;
- Maintain and troubleshoot electronic resource access;
- Manage and develop digital library applications and e-learning systems;
- Provide technical support for creating and accessing digital collections;
- Provide systems support and training to library staff to enhance their operational workflow; and
- Participate in Library committees and working groups
Applicants should possess a master's degree in library science or an equivalent field, along with a minimum of two years of post-qualification experience, preferably in library systems work. In addition, the applicants should have strong knowledge of modern programming languages (such as PHP, Python or Java) and experience in developing web applications. Familiarity with metadata schema and standards (e.g., MARC, Dublin Core, MODS) is also required. Applicants should demonstrate current knowledge of digital trends in libraries and digital scholarship, and enthusiasm to experiment with new technologies and workflows. Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English and Chinese are essential for effective collaboration and support. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave and medical benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
