Office of Knowledge Transfer
The Office of Knowledge Transfer (OKT) serves as a bridge between the HKUST research community and industry, creating collaboration and innovation from the University research outcomes and capabilities. OKT manages inventions and Intellectual Properties (IP) of HKUST, formulates strategic commercialization plans, identifies potential collaborators with faculty members, and establishes commercialization projects with industry partners. OKT also incubates and supports HKUST’s technology-based start-ups and encourages entrepreneurship development. The Center is inviting competent and passionate professionals to join the knowledge transfer team:
Manager (Event and Marketing)
Reporting to the Head of Collaborative Venture Creation and Project Management, working closely with the HKUST research communities, Global Engagement and Communications Office and liaising with internal stakeholders, and external partners and vendors, key responsibilities include:
- Formulate and implement marketing and event strategy with an aim to promote innovation and entrepreneurship of HKUST.
- Scout and curate impactful stories with thematic angle to highlight the contributions/achievements of HKUST's innovation and start-ups; coordinate with HKUST Global Engagement and Communications Office to maximize the marketing opportunities.
- Plan, organize and manage events/online activities to showcase HKUST innovation and start-ups by providing full range of support on event management, including invitation and liaison, program development, promotion and advertising, partners collaboration, onsite logistics, as well as market research and procurement; execute campaigns across multiple channels, and optimize campaigns across all marketing platforms to achieve designated business goals and create social impact.
- Support the organization of technology seminars, workshops, events, guest visits and partnership developments.
- Develop and manage websites, social media and other marketing channels, including translating technical capabilities into marketing stories and preparing relevant content and display.
- Analyze marketing and event performance metrics to assess effectiveness and adapt the knowledge transfer management system to optimize workflow.
- Establish and maintain the database to support effective marketing initiatives.
- Manage various social media of OKT to promote industrial engagement and start-ups to cement leadership position of HKUST in knowledge transfer.
- Engage vendors to prepare marketing materials and reports of the office, including innovation brochure, start-up booklets, videos, newsletter, etc.; manage and liaise with suppliers such as designers and agencies for HKUST best interest.
- Work with cross-functional teams/agencies, including designers (graphics & UX/UI), researchers, marcoms, and vendors.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in any discipline
- 6+ years of experience in marketing within the technology sector
Experience:
- Dealing and liaising with government accounts, universities, and government units (desirable)
- Proven track record in launching successful events and impactful strategic partnerships
- Managing social media and/or digital marketing agencies
Skills:
- Digital savvy
- Accountable and detail-minded; creative problem-solver and executor
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, while operating within budgetary and timeline constraints
- Positive can-do attitude and mature interpersonal skills
Language Proficiency:
- Good command of written and spoken English, Mandarin, and Cantonese
Technical Knowledge (desirable):
- Inbound marketing (Hubspot), Paid search (AdWords)
- EDMs (Mailchimp)
- Video editing (iMovie), Photo editing (Photoshop)
- Curating design thinking workshops
(Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
