Part-time Research Assistant (Full Stack Developer/UX Engineer)

Project

1. Ear on Earth: Design Strategies for Sonification of Geodata on Mobile Devices
2. Multimodal Hong Kong: Documenting Sensory Cultural Heritage through Soundscape and Smellscape

Duties

The appointee will collaborate with the project researchers. Main duties include but not limited to the following:

1. Develop and maintain the Multimodal Hong Kong Database Wordpress website;
2. Gather requirements and manage the development process for existing and future web projects;
3. Design new (web) interfaces and experiences in Figma according to the needs of researchers and projects at hand;
4. Create and maintain documentation for various web projects; and
5. Assist in the management of the administration of the research project.

Requirements

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction/Creative Media/Computer Science or related disciplines;
2. Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
3. Strong problem-solving and good communication skills; self-motivation and willingness to learn;
4. Skills and documented experience in web development (e.g. Wordpress and PHP), and database management (e.g. MySQL) are required;
5. Professional experience in full-stack or web development is strongly preferred;
6. Knowledge and experience, and/or demonstrated talent in UI and UX design is preferred; and
7. Familiarity with an academic research environment, new media art, and/or working with digital media files and storage would be an advantage.

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
