Job Description

Postdoctoral Fellow (Electronic Engineering)  (Ref. No.: CAiRS-R15/P3.4 - Use of failure models and Bayesian methods for real-time failure prediction and Uncertainty management)

 

Duties:

The appointees will report to the Project Leader and the Centre Director or his delegate (currently Programme Manager) and perform research and related work in the research project. The project will develop advanced AI prognostic techniques for health monitoring and lifetime prediction of IGBT/SiC power modules.

 

The appointee will be required to:

  1. conduct studies of related literature and applied research; 
  2. develop innovative methodologies, design experiments and circuitries for real-time data measurements of power devices;
  3. work with other researchers, plan and conduct research activities to achieve project deliverables;
  4. report research progress and results regularly to the project team;
  5. write and publish articles in high-tier peer-reviewed journals; and
  6. perform any other duties as assigned by the Centre Director or his delegates.

 

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent qualification in a related field and must have no more than five years of post-qualification experience at the time of application. They should also have a good publication record.

 

Applicants should have professional background or experience in at least one of the following areas:

  1. Electronics circuit design, simulation, and testing
  2. Machine-learning/data science related research
  3. System/device reliability, and Prognostic Health Management (PHM)

 

Applicants should also have:

  1. good research and experimental skills;
  2. good interpersonal and communication skills; and
  3. good command of written and spoken English.

 

Preference will be given to those with background in power electronics research & development. 

Fresh graduates are also welcome.

 

Salary:

  • The maximum monthly salary allowance is HK$35,000 for research talents with a doctoral degree.
  • An additional monthly living allowance of HK$10,000 will be provided to research talents with a doctoral degree.
