Job Description

Duties: The appointee will teach as well as develop and manage programmes in Social Sciences and related subjects (such as mental health, education, social work, training). He/She will take charge of a portfolio of part-time programmes in the respective disciplines. The scope of duties includes programme planning and development, course promotion, course teaching and delivery, day-to-day programme administration, liaison with students, teachers and professional bodies, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Candidates should at least possess a master’s degree in social sciences or related disciplines, with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience. A doctoral degree or a relevant professional qualification will be an advantage. They should be able to demonstrate leadership in their areas of expertise and track record of working with various sectors, including professionals, government, non-government institutions and media in the field. They should have strong leadership and supervisory skills, capability to manage resources effectively, strong communication and interpersonal skills and excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua). 

Terms of Appointment: Salary placement will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The contract will normally be for 2 years with the possibility of renewal subject to review.  A contract-end gratuity (taxable) will be payable upon satisfactory completion of the contract.  Medical and dental benefits, 22 days’ annual leave and the use of library facilities will be provided where applicable.  The School also provides staff development opportunities.
