Job Description
We are looking to hire an energetic person to perform the functional role of Veterinary Assistant to support our Veterinary Community Outreach Programme (VCOP), a new initiative of the Centre for Animal Health and Welfare (CAHW), working with the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences at the City University of Hong Kong. The program aims to promote animal welfare and support local communities.

Duties
- Act as the translator between pet owners and veterinary staff (English and Cantonese) during health checks and educational visits in the field and in clinics;
- Support veterinary staff and the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) programme students in the provision of basic veterinary care and surgeries (including desexing surgeries, vaccinations, parasite control, etc.);
- Provide logistical support for the promotion of VCOP including events/activities (workshops, seminars, fundraisers, student rotations, etc.);
- Provide support for the development and delivery of educational resources pertaining to animal welfare;
- Provide support for in-field clinical research and data collection; and
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with proven work experience in the veterinary field, good command of written and spoken English and Cantonese, experience in handling animals (e.g. cats, dogs), ability to work independently and under pressure, excellent communication skills and enthusiasm for relationship-building, and flexibility to work the occasional evening or weekend. Possession of a Class II driving license (Toyota Hi-Ace or similar) and good command of Putonghua are desirable. Possession of AIRC Certificate at Grade 2 is preferred.

Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental consultations at the campus clinic.
