Project Aspire

Project Aspire is a special project of The Education University of Hong Kong setting up to assist children and teenagers with Autism Spectrum Disorder / Asperger Syndrome (ASD) and those who have major difficulties in the area of social interaction. The major objective of the Project is to cater for the needs of ASD children and teenagers and offer support to parents and teachers to enhance their capabilities in helping them. Major project activities include social skills training programmes, school services, parenting consultation and support, workshops and talks.

The appointees will be required to undertake Project activities including the implementation of outreach school services, workshops and talks for teachers and related professionals; supervision and training for student helpers; organization of social skills training programmes; assisting in organizing symposium, fund-raising activities and development of new project services; and performing any other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor(s). The appointment will be for a period of 2 years with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related discipline(s) with at least two years of post-qualification experience in working with children or teenagers with special needs (preferably with ASD children or teenagers) and experience working with students in group and mass activities in school. They should be passionate about working with ASD children and teenagers and be able to provide consultation service for the parents. Applicants who possess qualifications in play therapy and/or other means of counselling skills will have an advantage. They should be good team players with good interpersonal, communication and organization skills; have high proficiency in both English and Chinese; and have the ability to work independently with initiative.  Fresh graduates and applicants with less experience will be considered for the post of Social Work Assistant.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract. Fringe benefits include the University’s Voluntary Contributions to MPF Scheme or a contract-end lump sum payment (totaling up to 10% of the basic salary), leave, medical and dental benefits.
