Assistant Inspector of Works (AIOW)

About the role

Join the team at SYW & Associates Limited as an Assistant Inspector of Works (AIOW) based in Hong Kong. This is a full-time position where you will play a crucial role in overseeing and ensuring the quality and compliance of construction projects. As the AIOW, you will be responsible for monitoring and inspecting the work of contractors and reporting on progress and any issues.

What you'll be doing

• Inspect construction sites to ensure work is completed to the required standards and in compliance with plans, regulations and safety requirements
• Monitor the progress of construction projects and provide regular updates to the project management team
• Liaise with contractors, developers and other stakeholders to address any issues or concerns
• Document and report on construction activities, quality and safety aspects
• Identify and escalate any non-conformities or defects for prompt resolution
• Provide technical advice and guidance to the construction team as needed
• Ensure that all construction work adheres to relevant building codes, regulations and industry standards

What we're looking for

• Minimum 5 years' experience as an Inspector of Works or in a similar construction supervision role including 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience in the capacity of the Inspector of works
• Strong understanding of construction processes, building regulations and quality standards
• Excellent technical knowledge and ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings
• Proven record of effectively monitoring and reporting on construction activities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with contractors and stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards
• Proficiency in using construction management software and documentation tools
• Relevant qualifications in construction, engineering or a related discipline
