Job Responsibilities:
- Performs circulation duties such as check-in and check-out of library/ Resource Room materials, registering users and updating user information;
- Assists students and staff in the use of online catalog or databases;
- Performs a variety of clerical and computer-related tasks as assigned;
- Prepares circulation desk for services on a daily basis;
- Shelving, straightening and shelf reading of library materials;
- Assists in accessing and processing print and non-print materials for circulation;
- Assists in cataloging and maintenance of bibliographic records;
- Handles overdue and reservations;
- Keep tracks with the payment for lost or damaged materials;
- Assists in set-up of displays and signage;
- Receives and deals with initial information requests;
- Help to co-ordinate with parent volunteers with miscellaneous tasks;
- Develops job-related abilities, skills and knowledge;
- Help to maintain the library as a welcoming and peaceful learning place;
- Assists in the community programs related to library activities;
- Performs other duties as assigned by the School Librarians, Principal, School Heads or any designee.
Requirements:
- Holder of the Certificate of Library Assistant (or equivalent);
- Fresh graduates would also be considered
- Work experience in a school library environment would be a plus;
- Good knowledge of Chinese and English word processing, library information systems and other office software applications, e.g. Publisher;
- Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin);
- Able to work independently, effective organizational and interpersonal skills; and
- Provides exemplary customer service in Library at all times.
