Duties
Reporting to the Director of Research and Innovation, the appointee will be responsible for managing and leading the Research Grants and Contracts Section of the Office to support the overall research development of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (the University). The appointee will be required to:
(a) oversee research grant administration and provide professional inputs on strategic policies and initiatives on research matters;
(b) serve a leading role in the administration of applications for research grants, including but not limited to government and non-government grants;
(c) to manage the contracts, agreements, memorandums of understanding (MoUs), letters of intent (LoIs), etc. on research matters between the University and collaborating parties;
(d) review, formulate and implement policies, rules and regulations to support the strategic initiatives of the University;
(e) provide secretarial and administrative service to the Research Committee and other relevant committees/working groups;
(f) administer the University's Master Clinical Trial and other research related insurances;
(g) represent the Office in internal and/or external meetings for achieving professional and effective communication with relevant stakeholders;
(h) supervise and manage data for institutional reporting such as the Common Data Collection Format (CDCF) exercise for the submission to the University Grants Committee;
(i) provide strategic support and coordination to various Mainland Translational Research Institutes, Shenzhen Research Institute and other regional bases in the Mainland in grant related matters; and
(j) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Research and Innovation or his/her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree, preferably with a postgraduate degree or an equivalent higher degree, in a relevant discipline;
(b) possess at least ten years of solid managerial experience in formulation of strategies and execution of initiatives in relevant areas in the higher education sector;
(c) have an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, and with proficiency in Putonghua;
(d) have excellent leadership, interpersonal, organisational, communication and problem-solving skills; and
(e) be a good team player with solid experience in leading a team.
Shortlisted candidates may be invited to sit for a written test.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
