Assistant Professor/Lecturer, Faculty of Science and Technology - Aviation

The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), with a vision of "Sustained Excellence in Applied Science and Technology Education in Hong Kong," offers a range of academic programmes across various fields of science and technology. These programmes enable the younger generation to experience the application of different technologies, preparing them for further studies and careers. The academic offerings include programmes in computer science, aviation and logistics, engineering, and creative media. Graduates of our Associate Degree (AD) and Higher Diploma (HD) programmes have excellent opportunities for further study at the bachelor's degree level, both locally and overseas.

Currently, the faculty offers diploma programmes, associate degree programmes, higher diploma programmes, Cap320 degree programmes, and top-up programmes. Supported by experienced academic staff and professional advice from industry experts, the programme curricula are designed to provide students with the fundamental principles, concepts, and methods of application in their chosen areas of study. The faculty also boasts up-to-date facilities, including state-of-the-art computer laboratories and equipment, network and multimedia laboratories, a design studio, and flight simulation facilities.

Duties

Appointees are expected to undertake in the following tasks:

• Deliver high-quality lectures in the field of aviation logistics / pilot studies / UAV training.
• Develop and update course materials, including syllabi and assessments, to align with industry standards and academic requirements.
• Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students, supporting their personal and professional development.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the curriculum, develop new programmes, and foster a vibrant academic environment within the faculty.
• Engage in scholarly activities and administrative duties at the Faculty and College levels.
• If appointed as an assistant professor, the appointee is expected to engage in research in relevant subject areas.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements: 

1. A good bachelor’s degree in aviation or a related discipline. A PhD or doctoral degree is required for the position of Assistant Professor. 
2. A minimum of two years’ relevant industry experience and/or teaching experience in tertiary education. 
3. Applicants with less work experience will be considered for the position of Assistant Lecturer.

Salary and Conditions of Service 

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will normally be made on fixed-term contract for one year. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental schemes.
