Head of Finance (NGO)

Job Summary 

As a member of Senior Leadership Team of Christian Action to lead and manage a high performing financial management function and provide a comprehensive financial management, costing and advisory service, whilst ensuring financial governance of the organization is delivered to exemplary standards of probity and transparency. 

Job Descriptions (including but not limited to the following) 

Reporting Line: Executive Director 

• Develop and supervise the implementation of internal financial accounting, budgeting and reporting systems. 
• Provide key contributions to the Organization financial strategy and decision-making processes. 
• Prepare, present and analyze monthly and quarterly financial, budgeting and forecasting reports, summarize budget trends, analyzing and reporting variances to Executive Director and the Board.
• Provision of sound strategic financial information including forecasts, budgets and financial growth plans to Executive Director and the Board. 
• Provide executive management with accurate and comprehensive financial information to guide effective policy making and financial strategizing. 
• Collaborate and support with management team/centers to establish more effective proposal processes and controls to ensure the integrity of the Organization. 
• Ensure all accounting activities and internal audits comply with financial regulations
• Ensure compliance with government regulations. 
• Identify potential risks to the organization and take steps to mitigate these risks. 
• Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and acting to prevent problems. 
• Review project proposal and budget, support ED and HRD on salary review. 
• Maintain relationship with bankers. Manage, mentor and motivate the accounting team. 
• Any ad-hoc tasks assigned by Executive Director 

Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field. MBA will be a plus. 
• Qualified Accountant with a least 15 years' relevant experience in accounting, auditing, or treasury in which at least 8 years at senior managerial level, proven experience as a head of finance or a similar position. 
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements, knowledge of accounting software. 
• Excellent leadership, management and communication skills 
• Detailed oriented, hands-on, strong problem-solving skill, independent, self-motivated, able to work under tight time-line
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and conversant Mandarin) 
• Humble and willingness to take on new challenges
