Laser Diode Packaging Engineer

About the role

As a Laser Diode Packaging Engineer at Brightlaser Limited, you will play a key role in the manufacturing and production of our high-quality laser diodes. Working in our state-of-the-art production facility in Sha Tin District, you will be responsible for the packaging and assembly of our Laser diode products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and performance. This is a full-time role with opportunities for career development within our growing company.

What you'll be doing

• Lead the VCSEL chip packaging production team.
• Research and develop innovative packaging solutions for new VCSEL products, ranging from datacom to high-power applications. This includes integration of substrate design, heat dissipation design, packaging processes, and reliability.
• Operate die bonders, wire bonders, die sorters, and other related equipment.
• Oversee and ensure production quality.
• Perform daily and regular maintenance of packaging equipment.
• Handle additional tasks as required.

What we're looking for

• Strong knowledge of semiconductor devices, physics, and laser diodes; experience with VCSELs is a plus.
• Hands-on experience in developing and troubleshooting laser diode packaging and integration processes.
• Familiarity with packaging materials such as AlN, Al2O3, CuAg, and Cu substrates.
• Proficiency in 3D and 2D design software like AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Experience operating ASM die bonders, K&S wire bonders, glue dispensers, and other relevant equipment.
• In-depth understanding of conventional and advanced packaging materials commonly used in the industry.
• Comprehensive knowledge of laser diode manufacturing methods at the wafer and chip levels, and their relation to packaging and system integration.
• Understanding of laser diode operational characteristics and degradation mechanisms.
