Multi-Scale Medical Robotics Center Limited (MRC) was established by the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Engineering of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in collaboration with ETH Zürich, Imperial College London, Johns Hopkins University, Technical University of Munich, and the University of Hong Kong. MRC focusing on technological innovation with a strong emphasis on clinical translation and direct patient benefits, serves as a synergistic platform for clinicians, engineers and researchers from local and overseas universities to work together and forge new ways to translate biomedical engineering research innovations into medical practices.
 

Job Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with the R&D and cross-functional engineering teams to design and develop cutting-edge surgical robotic systems, guiding instruments from initial concept to final product.
2. Oversee the complete product development lifecycle, encompassing prototyping, bench testing, verification and validation, and mass manufacturing.
3. Actively participate in and contribute to the product design process by attending brainstorming sessions, managing product specifications, conducting bench tests, and facilitating user experience evaluations, as well as pre-clinical and clinical trials.
4. Maintain thorough documentation of the design and development processes in compliance with the company's quality control standards and regulatory requirements.
5. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the company to support product development initiatives.

Applicants should have

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with over three years of relevant work experience.
2. Proven experience in designing reusable surgical instruments, with a strong understanding of sterilization processes and standards.
3. Experience with CNC machining, metal injection molding, or other production methods for surgical instruments, along with the ability to effectively communicate with suppliers.
4. Competence in selecting suitable materials and manufacturing process for surgical instruments while balancing cost and quality considerations.
5. Exceptional computer skills, particularly in CAD and CAM software.
6. Ability to work effectively under pressure, demonstrating self-motivation and strong teamwork skills.
7. Experience in designing single-use surgical devices is an advantage.
8. Knowledge of quality systems and standards such as ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and ISO 62304 is a plus.

Salary & Benefits
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. We offer attractive remuneration package including medical and dental insurance to the successful candidate. Appointment will be made on a 1 or 2-year contract (with contract-end gratuity for a 2-year contract), renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
