To cope with the company growth and strengthen our development capabilities, we are now looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer.

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer will be one of the members in the Engineering | Consumer Air Cooling & Mounts division of ARCTIC, located in the Hong Kong R&D office. Reporting to Engineering Manager, the mission of the Mechanical Engineer is to create, develop and sustain quality computer products that impress ARCTIC’s end customers.

Job Duties

Handle New Product Development and Sustaining Engineering for the existing products. Major duties include:

• Developing cost-effective mechanical structures for Consumer Air Cooling Products (e.g. Freezers, Case Fans, Personal Fans) and potentially Monitor Arms, through design iteration by means of CAD modelling, simulation, 3D printing, product testing, etc.
• Testing and benchmarking to ensure the designed products have competitive performance
• Researching for product enhancement solutions
• Preparing engineering documents: Technical Drawings, Product Specifications, Inspection Reports, etc.
• Create and maintaining product BOMs according to ARCTIC Engineering SOP
• Closely working with the Industrial Design Department to ensure the products fulfil aesthetic requirements of ARCTIC
• Collaborating with the Graphic Design Department on the packaging design
• Collaborating with Purchasing Department on the RFQ process
• Visiting PRC suppliers from time to time for technical discussions or production follow-up

Basic requirements

• Holder of bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Product Engineering, Industrial Design or related discipline
• 3 – 5 years of work experience in product development field. Experience in designing consumer electronics or home appliances is an advantage
• Candidate with less experience or fresh graduate will be considered for Assistant Mechanical Engineer position

Skills / Knowledge

• Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modelling and technical drawing creation
• Intermediate level of SolidWorks simulation
• Fundamental knowledge in GD&T
• Fundamental knowledge in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Fundamental knowledge in plastic injection, metal presswork, die-casting, machining, etc

Capabilities

• Able to design products from component to assembly, considering different manufacturing processes
• Able to create testing plans and conduct the tests properly based on product nature
• Willing to brainstorm and generate ideas for product improvement
• Able to identify root causes of issues through observation on the products as well as analytical methods
• Able to prioritize various tasks under tight project timelines
• Written and verbal communication in English is mandatory
• Verbal communication in Cantonese / Mandarin is preferable
• Written communication in Chinese is a plus
