Job Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects based on plans and specifications.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documents to determine project requirements.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring they are adhered to throughout the construction process.
  • Monitor expenditures and provide financial reports to stakeholders.

Tendering Process:

  • Prepare tender documents and manage the tendering process.
  • Evaluate tenders and make recommendations for contractor selection.

Contract Administration:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and manage claims and variations.

Cost Control:

  • Implement cost control measures to monitor and manage project costs.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess project progress and identify potential cost overruns.

Value Engineering:

  • Analyze project costs and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
  • Collaborate with project teams to optimize resource allocation.

Reporting:

  • Prepare regular financial reports and forecasts for stakeholders.
  • Communicate project progress and financial status to clients and management.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and financial assessments for projects.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure project alignment with budget and specifications.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide input on financial aspects.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

Experience:

Relevant experience in quantity surveying or a similar role within the construction industry.

Certifications:

Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, AQS) is often preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Proficient in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Work Environment:

  • Typically office-based with frequent visits to construction sites.
  • May involve collaboration with various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and project managers.
