The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) is responsible for the provision of desirable services for students of the University and enhancing their learning experience. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team dedicated to fostering whole-person development and a vibrant campus life of students.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Student Societies Team assuring that it contributes to the evolving mission of OSA and the attainment of Lingnan University’s strategic goals pertaining to “Fostering a Collegial Community” and “Cultivating Whole-person Development”
- Oversee the planning and administration of services rendered to student societies including, inter alia, advising on the procedures of their formation, drafting of constitution, and compliance of regulations
- Understand, collect and reflect to the senior management the opinion and needs of the student societies, and to elaborate and promote the University’s ideas and measures to these societies for the wellbeing of all students
- Head up the management of student amenities in terms of drawing up roster for staff members to man and patrol the venues like the Learning Commons, and liaising with the responsible units to upkeep the venues and facilities, etc.
- Develop strategies to secure and allocate financial resources, such as the Student Activities Fund, for the student societies in achieving whole-person development of the students-at-large
- Liaise with internal units and external parties in order to refer students to attend training programmes, competitions and study tours, etc. about the SDG and entrepreneurial initiatives
- Oversee the planning, operation and monitoring of activities under the New Student Orientation
- Act as secretary of the University committee(s) as and when necessary
- Assist the supervisor(s) in the handling of student critical incidents and disciplinary cases
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
- Work outside normal office hours, including weekends, as required
Requirements
- A recognised Bachelor’s degree in sociology, public administration, facilities management or relevant disciplines
- At least ten years’ post-qualification experience, with at least six years at executive level, preferably with tertiary institutions or sizeable organisations
- Sound knowledge about and well versed in managing student societies and amenities in universities
- A good command of written and verbal English and Chinese (including Putonghua)
- Excellent mastery of logical thinking, analytical, interpersonal, communication, coordination, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
- Strong sense of self-motivation, responsibility and teamwork relation
- High calibre to work under tight timelines with a positive attitude
- Great interest in partnering people from different professions or sectors (such as trainers and contractors) to explore new ways for continuous improvement
Candidates with less/more experience will be considered for appointment at a relevant rank.
Salary and Fringe Benefits
The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
