Duties
The appointee will be responsible for maintenance of research and teaching laboratories in the Department. Main duties include:
- Serve as the technical team member to assist in the safety of operation, management of teaching and research equipment, and core research facilities;
- Assist in new laboratory set up and relocation;
- Prepare teaching materials and support laboratory practical teaching;
- Carry out administrative and compliance work, develop protocols and standard operating procedures;
- Carry out risk assessments and safety inspections;
- Oversee the licensing, accreditation, or certification of equipment to fulfil legal requirements;
- Serve as administrator of equipment booking system;
- Provide technical support and maintenance to departmental servers and accounts;
- Oversee the installation of new equipment and provide technical training on the use of equipment;
- Assist in equipment purchase and associated system/consumables and inventory control;
- Maintain inventory of the departmental assets; and
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Sciences or related disciplines;
- 3-5 years of working experience in university teaching and research laboratories;
- Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
- Familiarity with neuroscience, bioanalytical and imaging instrumentation;
- Experienced in using Linux with basic configuration; and
- Experience with protocols commonly used in molecular biology, system, and cellular neuroscience are required.
Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
