Technical Officer

The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is searching for candidates to apply for the above position.

The appointees will be responsible for providing technical support to the research and teaching laboratories of the department. Duties include:

• Manage and maintain crucial equipment for the department's research and teaching activities.
• Conduct training sessions on research equipment operation.
• Provide high-quality technical support, including procurement of lab supplies and equipment for research and teaching labs.
• Ensure adherence to best practices and safety protocols in all laboratory operations.
• Assist the Assistant IT Manager in providing basic IT support to the department.
• Undertake additional ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or above in chemical engineering, chemistry or related multi-disciplined background, preferably with at least 2 years of relevant experience. 
• The ideal candidate should have good computer literacy and strong engineering technical skills. 
• The ideal candidate is expected to be attentive to details, able to perform multi-tasks under pressure, and responsible, with a proactive personality, and strong team spirit. 
• Knowledge and experience in energy or materials-related research as well as familiarity with Drupal, JavaScript, CSS are advantageous, but not mandatory.

(Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
