The Department of Physics is now seeking accountable, curious and studious candidates to fill the position of a Technical Officer. The role is instrumental in supporting our faculty, researchers, and students in their scientific endeavours.
Job responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on technical support to research groups.
- Oversee and offer in-depth equipment/instrument support: such as troubleshooting, repairing, calibration, alignment, operation, assembly and/or design.
- Laboratories housekeeping for designated research groups.
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient completion of tasks.
- Manage laboratory resources, including inventory and procurement.
- Maintain laboratory safety to adhere to the University's safety requirements.
- Handle ad hoc job requests from supervisors.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in physics or relevant disciplines.
- Preference will go to candidates with knowledge and/or hands-on technical experience of Physics-related systems (e.g., ultra-high vacuum, cryogenic, acoustic, laser, optical, microscopy, cleanroom, digital signal processing/acquisition, programming etc.). Multiple competencies are desirable.
- Post-qualification experience in a technical role within a physics research or educational environment is preferred.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua).
- Basic knowledge and proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
