Duties
The appointees will work in the User Services Section, and will be involved in delivering desktop management services and user support, as well as support in designing and implementing modern end-user computing solutions. They will be required to:
(a) assist in managing the deployment and provisioning of operating system, such as Windows 11 to end users;
(b) assist in designing and implementing the modern end-user computing strategy and solutions of the University;
(c) perform system configuration, installation, relocation, upgrades, regular patching cycle, and maintenance to keep end-user devices up-to-date and functioning properly;
(d) provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other peripherals;
(e) diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, and implement solutions in a timely manner;
(f) collaborate with the Infrastructure, Security and Teaching & Learning support teams to ensure integration and compatibility of end-user software tools with Learning Management System;
(g) provide on-site and off-site support; and
(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline;
(b) preferably at least two years of experience in desktop and end-user computing support / administrator role;
(c) strong problem-solving skills, the capability to work independently and proactively, with enthusiasm about new technology and the ability to learn new skills quickly;
(d) strong knowledge of and hands-on experience of Windows operating systems, Windows Active Directory and common desktop applications, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (formerly SCCM) or Microsoft Intune;
(e) preferably relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) and Azure;
(f) experience in hardware troubleshooting, repair and replacement;
(g) the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders; and
(h) proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
Preference will be given to those with working experience in Exchange Online, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, MacOS MdM, IT service management principles and practices such as ITIL.
