Chief Technical Officer/Senior Technical Officer (Interior Projects) in the Campus Development Office [Ref. A/829/03]

Campus Development Office (CDO) is a supporting office of the City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK). We are responsible for providing comprehensive services covering campus master planning and space allocation, capital and renovation projects, operation and repairs and maintenance of building services and estates for the University.

As a Chief Technical Officer/Senior Technical Officer of CDO, you will leverage your attention to internal design/project support to deliver exceptional campus projects. This position offers an opportunity to grow your design/project management experience while working on high quality projects for the university.

Duties

  1. Assist with the design and delivery of the interiors and/or technical aspects of a project;
  2. Provide project team coordination for the finished plans, specifications, and material selections required for construction.
  3. Prepare and ensure the accuracy of technical documents.
  4. Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.
  5. Produce interior drawings or graphic presentations.
  6. Support communication among project teams, users, consultants, contractors, sub-contractors, vendors etc.; and
  7. Perform any other assignments.

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or interior design studies, with a valid safety training course certificate (commonly known as “Green Card”);
  2. At least 7 years’ proven experience in interiors, preferrable retail or corporate interiors in a commercial design firm;
  3. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, fluent in Mandarin is a plus;
  4. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft office. Additional software skills in 3d Max, Illustrator, Rhino, Grasshopper, and Autodesk Certified are a plus;
  5. Knowledgeable in 3D computer software, such as Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, and AI;
  6. Strong organisation, communication and relationship management skills;
  7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  8. Proficient in preparing presentations to stakeholders/users;
  9. Being self-motivated, able to work independently, with the awareness to seek guidance and support when necessary;
  10. Being open and receptive to receiving coaching from supervisors and colleagues, assimilate feedback and learn quickly from it; and
  11. Being a collaborative and patient individual, with a passion in design and a positive outlook.

Candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment as Senior Technical Officer.

Shortlisted candidates may be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
