The School of Graduate Studies is established for strengthening the central support for postgraduate programmes as well as the monitoring of their quality in alignment with the University’s strategic direction of expanding and providing quality postgraduate education. It also proactively seeks collaboration with leading institutions in the international academic communities to co-organise scholarly activities to enhance postgraduate student learning.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide a wide range of administrative support to matters pertaining to RPg studies, from academic development and academic quality assurance/enhancement of programmes, formulation and review of academic policies and regulations, admissions, registration, records, assessment and financial sponsorships, to day-to-day academic services to RPg students
- Provide secretarial support to committees
- Assist in the development, management and enhancement of RPg data repository systems and data analytics, and automation work projects
- Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree
- Around 12 years’ post qualification experience, preferably with tertiary education institutions and at supervisory or management level
- Substantial administration experience and a high level of competence in committee work
- Very strong logical thinking, analytical, interpersonal, communication, coordination and problem-solving skills
- An excellent command of written and verbal English and Chinese (including Putonghua), especially with a high level of English proficiency in writing reports, proposals and minutes
- The ability to take the initiative and to carry out duties independently and under tight schedules
- A strong sense of responsibility
- Good supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate junior colleagues to achieve common goals of the School and the University
- Knowledge in IT applications
- Solid previous experience in supporting RPg programme/student administration and operations at the university central level will be a definite advantage
Candidates with less/more experience will also be considered for appointment at a relevant rank.
Salary and Fringe Benefits
The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
