Job Description

We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in Office for Advancement of Learning and Teaching (ALTO)

Instructional Designer/Assistant Instructional Designer (Ref: 24002B0)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

  • Managing the overall project planning and course development activities of the University;
  • Applying the principles of instructional design in the development and production of high-quality audio-visual, multimedia and online learning materials;
  • Working as an instructional designer in a course team and providing instructional design, substantive editing and project management services in the process of course development;
  • Assisting course developers in planning and adapting/developing imported or locally created educational sound full-time/part-time learning coursed;
  • Facilitating communication and coordination between instructional design, AV production, and multimedia technology teams to ensure seamless collaboration and timely delivery of course materials;
  • Preparing and monitoring contracts for course development projects; • Organizing and conducting professional development workshops, preparing learning materials on educational technology, pedagogical theories, and teaching skills and strategies for HKMU staff; and
  • Undertaking other duties as assigned by the Director of Advancement of Learning and Teaching and his/her nominees.

Candidates 

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence: 

  • A recognized degree in education, preferably a higher degree in educational technology, instructional design or related discipline;
  • At least 6 years’ of relevant post-qualification experience. Teaching experience is preferred;
  • Substantial experience in the design, planning and development of courses for delivery in the multi-learning mode;
  • Technology skills in education, with experience in the use of computer- based/mobile technology for multimedia and online course development/design;
  • An excellent command of both Chinese and English languages; and
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Applicants with less relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Assistant Instructional Designer. 

Candidates may be invited to attend a written test.

An attractive remuneration package, including basic salary, an end-of-contract gratuity, and a discretionary incentive payment, where applicable, will be offered to the right candidates.
