Lab Technician, Science Unit (Post Ref.:25/40)

The Science Unit (http://www.LN.edu.hk/scienceunit) would like to invite applications for the above-mentioned post.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the lab space (partitioning space of two science laboratories according to PIs projects and keeping track of lab consumables)
• Develop and manage a system of inventory (e.g. chemicals, tools, equipment etc.) to facilitate projects operation
• Assist in the preparation and conduction of research fieldwork and educational field tours
• Manage purchases for research projects and lab operation
• Conduct routine check of lab conditions and report potential hazards (potential for spillage, short circuit etc.)
• Be proactive to check on stuff and keep the lab tidy
• The appointee may be required to work on weekends on need basis

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in natural science or related disciplines
• Holder of Laboratory Technician’s Certificate is preferred. First-aid certificate is an advantage
• 1-2 years of research experience related to research project and/or lab management
• Self-motivation and an independent work attitude
• High level of proficiency in both English and Chinese reading and writing

Salary and Benefits

Commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits and mandatory provident fund. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract for 12 months with the possibility of a further extension.
