The Chinese University of Hong Kong Library
The Chinese University of Hong Kong Library invites applications for Library Assistant II(s).
The appointee(s) will be assigned to the User Services Department. Duties include (a) providing front-line enquiry, counter and roving services to users in a courteous, helpful and efficient manner; (b) providing clerical support to routine and ad hoc projects; (c) assisting in maintaining an orderly, pleasant and safe study environment; (d) updating library webpages and publicity materials; (e) assisting in collation of statistical and financial information; (f) ensuring the Library collections are orderly and tidily displayed; and (g) performing other duties as assigned. Shift duties in the evenings, at weekends or on holidays are required.
Applicants should have (i) completed secondary education; (ii) Grade E/Level 2 or above in at least 5 subjects in HKCEE, including Chinese and English (Syllabus B, or at least Grade C in Syllabus A); OR any combination of results in at least 5 HKDSE subjects (including Level 2 or above in Chinese and English): Level 2 or above in NSS subjects, “Attained” or above in ApL subjects (subject to a maximum of 2 subjects), and Grade E or above in Other Language subjects; (iii) a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; (iv) strong interpersonal and good customer service skills; (v) the ability to work both independently and as part of a team; and (vi) good computer skills, including the use of MS Office applications and Chinese word-processing. Relevant work experience in academic libraries, including use of library management system, is preferred.
Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
