THE GIG

 

Report to the Functional Materials Manager (60%), this role is responsible for contributing to the component’s development activities (including trial out, colour approval). This role will drive effective communication on development follow up with suppliers, maintain accurate tracking charts, assuring functional material is compliant with corporate standards with respect to approvals, policies, and regulations. In addition, the role will work closely with the Head of Materials Management (40%), supporting on the PLM data governance.

 

  • PLM data governance – This responsibility is for all category of materials. Regular extracting of material and working with Head of Materials on the data gap identification with focus on data accuracy and reliability, identifying and resolving data inaccuracy issues, and developing solutions to prevent recurrence. Will have to collaborate with full material team members to promote high-quality data accuracy.
  • Maintain & follow up functional & packaging material development and bulk performance testing tracker with Tier 2 – ensuring the testing done on time, monthly reporting to management on the status.
  • Working with concerned Tier 2 suppliers to build Master samples Library in HK – Master samples, pricing and cost breakdown, specifications and blueprints. Able to go into details of costing and work on reporting the gaps where needed.
  • Working on getting seasonal prices from Tier 2 and ensuring the prices are submitted on time for further process.
  • Maintain & reporting of material development tracking reports for on time development of materials, lead-time, price.
  • Maintain and update PLM system on concerned material data.
  • Admin support – on an ad hoc basis.

To be our Functional Materials Assistant you will also possess these qualities:

 

  • Diploma holder in clothing, textiles, materials management related subjects.
  • Min 4-5 years of working experience in footwear &/or apparel materials, functional accessories & trims development.
  • Experience in using PLM or relevant system is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken in English. Spoken Chinese will be an advantage. Ability in working with a multi-cultural team.
  • Logical thinker with strong numerical and data analytical proficiency. Able to maintain and monitor performance trackers on a regular basis.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Strong in Excel (with pivot-table, vlookup), Word, Outlook.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with very tight deadlines.
  • Ability to critically challenging ideas and assumptions in a constructive and collaborative manner
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on process improvement and operational excellence.
