Job Description

The Global Engagement and Communications Office is looking for a self-motivated and independent individual to join as a Project Manager (Anniversary Celebration).  The appointee will report to the Senior Manager (Events and Community Outreach) and provide all-round event management support for the University’s 35th Anniversary Celebration project.  The appointee’s major duties will include:

  • planning and implementing anniversary programs and events under the leadership of the 35th Anniversary Celebration Organizing Committee (OC); 
  • overseeing the programs as a project manager to ensure a smooth and high-standard delivery;
  • liaising with various internal and external parties involved including but not limited to members of the OC, working units of the University, external contractors and other University stakeholders; 
  • proactively maintaining good communication with different parties and teams to ensure effective collaboration and smooth delivery of program outcomes;
  • providing useful suggestions to the OC on program ideas, event management matters, when needed;
  • supporting the tender processes of the project and managing various contractors involved;
  • supporting meetings and the related administration work of the OC; and
  • other logistics and administrative work which might be involved in the project.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of relevant work experience.  The ideal candidate should:

  • possess a proven track record of organizing large-scale events and managing contractors effectively;
  • be capable of working independently with minimal supervision, and collaborating with teams and stakeholders of different levels;
  • be an effective decision maker who is able to make sound judgement in his/her area of expertise;
  • be assertive and capable of mobilizing others and implementing projects with good team work spirit;
  • be capable of multitasking with a good sense of prioritization of tasks.
  • be a good team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese; and
  • possess sound knowledge in IT and software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

(Duration: 2 years, with a possibility of contract extension subject to the actual plan of the celebration events)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
