Responsibilities:
- Act as a strategic partner to buyers, supervising work in progress, evaluating project feasibility, and obtaining project information.
- Monitor business trends and forecasts, identify opportunities, and develop future growth plans.
- Report and escalate project delays, ensuring comprehensive information sharing with the Head of Department.
- Lead cross-department projects and support budget processes.
- Advise on optimal sourcing locations, ensuring transparency and managing product reallocation plans.
- Oversee order processing, drive KPI achievement, and ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Negotiate with suppliers, coordinate buying trips, and conduct factory and supplier visits.
- Independently handle tenders in coordination with Strategic Purchasing and Merchandising teams.
- Evaluate and source new suppliers globally, manage price and terms negotiations, monitor supplier performance, and act as a centralized communication point.
- Manage supplier status on the E-Sourcing platform.
- Ensure vendors meet Migros quality expectations.
- Review contract terms and ensure supplier compliance with Migros business terms.
- Monitor sustainability goals and liaise with the Corporate Sustainability Department for factory visits and BSCI-related activities.
- Handle claims and support Merchandiser Teams in complex challenges.
- Exchange information with buyers, understand their requirements, and provide market and vendor insights.
- Act as the main contact point for Category Managers.
- Maintain good cooperation with other departments and Migros offices, lead special projects, coach the team, and update procedures.
Requirements:
- Strong communications and coordination skills
- Diploma or above
- Comprehensive sourcing experience in Food categories is preferred
- Min. 8 years of experience in Merchandising, procurement, or supply chain with at least 3 years of supervisory experience
- Sourcing experience in China, India, South & East Asia.
- Experience in working in cross cultural team and able to work across multicultural environment
- Languages: Proficiency in English, knowledge of German is an advantage to communicate with Swiss buyers or Chinese competency to manage sourcing in Chinese speaking countries (China/ Taiwan/Hong Kong)
- Project management experience
- High willingness travel to suppliers’ locations & factories as well as to Switzerland
- Self-motivated and independent, deliver work on time and able to meet tight deadlines
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Confident to make decision, result and service-oriented
- Strong coaching and leadership skills
- Attentive to work ethics
