We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Science and Technology:

Part-time Research Assistant I/Research Assistant II/ Technical Assistant (R6600 & PFDS/2024/02) (S&T) (Ref: 24002IH)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee shall mainly assist the Principal Investigator in the research projects "Investigation on the Surface Interactions of Nanoplastic Particles in Solution" (R6600) and "Optimizing Solvent Extraction Methods for Enhanced Polyhydroxyalkanoate Recovery" (PFDS/2024/02).  He / She will be responsible mainly for the following:

  • Conducting experiment as instructed by the Investigators;
  • Performing data analysis;
  • Assisting in report writing and presentation of the results; and
  • Conducting other research activities as instructed by the Principal Investigator.

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

  • A Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Testing and Certification, Applied Science or a related discipline (for Research Assistant I);
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Testing and Certification, Applied Science or a related discipline (for Research Assistant II);
  • At least 5 subjects with Level 2 in HKDSE or equivalent, including English & Chinese languages and Mathematics / Diploma (for Technical Assistant);
  • Good knowledge of a broad range of research methods and techniques;
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese; and
  • Detail-oriented, hardworking, responsible, ability to meet deadlines and work independently.

Terms and Conditions for Appointment

Successful candidates will be appointed on a temporary part-time contract.  Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions.
