Role Introduction

• This role, Solution Architect, is responsible for developing fit-for-purpose solution designs that address the business requirements and align with architecture strategies, roadmaps and standards.
• The key focus will be all solution surrounding data and analytics, including data warehouse, big data platform, visualization and analytics tools.
• You are responsible to define solutions to bridge gaps and make sure the project scope is maintained, and solutions implemented in line with design.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive to develop and analyse solution options in the Data and Analytics area, covering data lake or lakehouse, cloud data warehouse, data blending & stitching, analytics & visualization; and based on business demand, enterprise architecture and a balanced assessment of functional capabilities, non-functional capabilities, risk, cost and benefits.
• Nurture a deep understanding of the solution architecture, translate business process, information entities and systems solutions into accurate, easily understandable architectural diagrams or viewpoints
• Gather, understand and synthesize documentation available from vendors, SMEs, systems, product managers and business analysts to be able to extract right information and transform it into different architectural diagrams or viewpoints
• Cross-team collaboration with application and infrastructure teams on the conceptual designs and solution designs for project delivery. Analyse enterprise business context (trends and business strategy), as well as project-specific requirements to guide solution architecture by leveraging all aspects (e.g. business, information and technology infrastructure) of enterprise architecture.
• Construct and promote application / infrastructure development and deployment standards and guidelines.
• Cross-team collaboration with other Solution Architects, Enterprise Architects, developers and key stakeholders to harmonise systems or infrastructure with the enterprise architecture.  Drive discussions among Architects and key stakeholders to agree on the solution architecture. Communicate a clear vision of how the technology can be optimally applied to products and services
• Proactively anticipate and act upon issues that arise, provides alternative approaches, optimal solution and continuously improving performance of applications
• Accountable for ensuring solution architecture design work is documented in a structured fashion matching the IT practice framework. Facilitate sharing of the artefacts to drive reuse.
• Work on prototypes and concepts for new technologies and ideas with little or no guidance
• Be able to communicate to any IT role using their vocabulary effectively
• Mentor the development team and promote ideas for useful technologies and methodologies
• Support continuous improvement of standard IT Practices.
• Own the solution design framework within BICC. Provide reference / guideline or when to use what.

Requirements

• University Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related disciplines
• Minimum 10 years of IT experience with at least 7 years in an architecture or lead solution design related position.
• In-depth skills in across the following disciplines: 
  • Business Intelligence
  • Master Data Management
  • Data Quality
  • Metadata Management
  • Data Lifecycle Management & Data Retention
  • Data Modelling
  • Data masking & test data management
• Prior experience building large scale enterprise data architectures using commercial and/or open source Data Analytics technologies
• Understanding of large analytical environments, with many stakeholders, users, different (conflicting) sets of requirements, technology stacks.
• Ability to estimate complexity, effort and cost
• In-depth knowledge of cloud-native concepts, methods and related technologies
• Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Good business acumen, with an ability to understand and address business issues
• Excellent breadth of thinking, able to provide pragmatic solutions that consider all relevant constraints whether technical, financial, organizational, risk, or capability based
• AWS Certified Solution Architect – Professional / AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty is highly preferred
