We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Arts and Social Sciences:

Temporary Research Assistant I (R7043) (A&SS) (Ref: 240029W) 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will assist the Principal Investigator and Co-Investigators in the research project “A longitudinal study of the impact of adverse housing conditions on the development of children living in subdivided units in Hong Kong: A mixed-method analysis” (Project: R7043). The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following: 

  • Conducting questionnaire survey and interviews;
  • Transcribing interview data;
  • Providing support in literature review and data analysis;
  • Writing academic reports;
  • Assisting the Principal Investigator and Co-investigators to prepare experiments;
  • Liaising with academic staff, student helpers, NGO workers, and other relevant parties;
  • Providing ad hoc research duties on some weekends/public holidays/weekday evenings; and
  • Performing any other duties as assigned to support the operation of the research project.

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

  • A recognised Master’s degree in social sciences;
  • Experience in carrying out quantitative and qualitative research;
  • Competence in computer skills (MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint, and Nvivo);
  • Detail-oriented, responsible, and self-motivated;
  • A high level of English and Chinese (Cantonese) proficiency and effective communication and organisation skills; and
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet multiple deadlines.

Terms and Conditions for Appointment

Successful candidate will be appointed on a temporary full-time contract. He/she will work for the period between September 2024 and August 2025. Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions.
