Job Description

Job Purpose*

This role is responsible for supporting the efficient and effective execution of the day-to-day veterinary duties of the Department. Duties will be directed by the supervisor on the monthly roster under the direct supervision of the rostered Veterinary Surgeon.

Roles & Responsibilities*

  • Translating all consultations.
  • Reporting test results to clients by phone.
  • Counting and dispensing medications.
  • Restraining animals for anaesthesia.
  • Monitoring anaesthetics and post operation recovery.
  • Medicating hospitalised animals.
  • On a shared rotation, be on duty out of hours, which includes evenings, weekends and public holidays.
  • When on duty, reply to and keep a record of all calls directed from the hotline, and contact the duty Veterinary Surgeon.
  • Driving the mobile clinic and being responsible for the daily maintenance. Report any faults/area of concern to the supervisor.
  • Performing the duties of the in-house laboratory according to laboratory manual.
  • Being responsible for the daily cleaning and periodic maintenance of all equipment used by the Department and keeping work areas clean.
  • Keeping logs for reporting equipment faults to the supervisor.
  • Keeping all clinics stocked with necessary paperwork, information sheets medications by orders to the dispensary. Keeping accurate records of all stock movements.
  • Participating trainings as directed by the supervisor.
  • Participating SPCA public events when required.
  • Cooperating with all other departments on a daily basis for any job-related tasks.

Qualification*

  • Completed HKCEE/ DSE or relevant qualifications with Veterinary Nurse qualification (i.e. completed AIRC Certificate IV / BSc in Veterinary Nurse).

Requirements*

  • Proficiency in both spoken and written Cantonese and English.
  • Relevant experience in the veterinary field preferred.
  • Hong Kong driving license 1 & 2 preferred.
  • Good team player with excellent communication and organisational ability.
  • Able to work on shift duty in different locations so as on Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays.
