R&D Manager, Accessories Materials

GA Operations HK Limited is a wholly owned sourcing operation for The Armani Group which designs, manufactures, distributes a wide range of fashion and lifestyle products including apparels, footwears and accessories, covering a range of brand names: Emporio Armani, AXIArmani Exchange, Emporio Armani Junior, EA7, etc.

We are looking for high calibre candidate(s) with great passion in fashion to join our Sourcing office in Kowloon Bay.

This role will be responsible for driving R&D initiatives of Accessories Materials including Leather, PU, handbags and small accessories textiles, handbag trims including metallic components; from creative scouting through effective sourcing, sample making, price negotiations, with the goal to meet Italy design office’s requirements of our Accessories & Bags categories.

Key responsibilities:

• Stay tuned with all materials markets to understand sources and to advise design on upcoming trends for our Accessories product category from Wallets to Handbags
• Creative scouting, conduct research & development for Accessories Materials & Trims to meet the business needs across all brands and benchmarking all accessories materials and trims in Asia market
• Establish effective strategic relationships with suppliers and successfully leverage these relationships to bring in innovation and novelty at competitive prices
• To collaborate with designers to engineer the products with appropriate material sourcing/development that meets brand design intent as well as cost parameters
• Attend relevant trade shows/fairs to actively source new and innovative raw materials for our products
• Build library or database of relevant raw materials

Requirements:

• College graduate with professional training in Fashion / Accessories Materials, or Trims
• At least 5-8 years’ managerial experience gained in Luxury Brands in researching Fashion Accessories Materials
• Broad knowledge of product development and manufacturing of materials
• Strong technical background on different accessories materials costing both materials & processes with good sourcing network
• Excellent communication, negotiation and time management skills
• A team player capable of interacting with different levels from management to stylists and diverse groups of team members and factories
• Proficiency in MS applications including Excel and Word
• Good verbal and written command of English & Chinese; able to communicate in Italian is an advantage
